Data Security

Data security cannot be built before you know where the data is. We address discovery, classification, access monitoring and masking together.

You cannot protect data when you do not know where it is

Most data security projects start in the wrong place: a product is bought first, then someone looks for what it should protect. The right order is the reverse. First you have to find where the sensitive data sits — in databases, on file servers, in shared folders, in an archive directory nobody has opened for years.

Discovery is followed by classification. Not all data warrants the same level of protection; personal data, trade secrets and public information are treated differently. Protection policies applied without classification end up either strict enough to stop the business or loose enough to prevent nothing.

The third layer is access monitoring. For databases in particular, seeing who accessed which data, when and with which query is decisive for both security and compliance. The burden of proof under data protection regulation is largely met with these records. Masking, meanwhile, makes it possible to work in test and development environments without spreading real data around.

Frequently asked questions

We do not know where our sensitive data is. How do we start?
With a discovery scan. We scan your databases and file shares and identify the sources holding personal data, financial information and confidential corporate content. That report becomes the input to every step that follows.
Does database monitoring affect performance?
Deployed with the right method, the impact stays within measurable limits. Existing load is measured before rollout, and monitoring scope is kept to the critical data sources.
Which records do we need to keep for data protection compliance?
The essential record is who accessed personal data, when and for what purpose. Access monitoring produces that automatically; the data inventory and retention periods must also be documented. Legal assessment should be carried out with your organization's own legal counsel.

Has your sensitive data been inventoried?

Let us start with a discovery scan and make visible which data sits where, and who has access to it.
